Terry's father Bill Boorman
Terry's father was William Irvine "Bill" BOORMAN, born in January 1911 in Los Angeles California USA while his parents were on a trip there. By the time the Canadian 1911 census was taken four months later, they were back in Victoria BC. He grew up to marry Lillian Joyce THOMAS (known as Joyce) in 1939 in Victoria BC where they raised two children. Bill worked in the Boorman real estate and investment company that his father had started, but sadly died too young in 1966 at the age of 55 after his third heart attack.
Bill was the oldest of five children born to Harry Eustace BOORMAN (1881 - 1951) and Daisy Louise JOHNSTON (1887 - 1961). Harry was born in Wandsworth London England, and likely immigrated to Victoria BC Canada in 1894 with his parents William Scoons BOORMAN (1842 - 1909) and Frances Jane ROBSON. Harry was the youngest of seven children. His father William Scoons BOORMAN was a coal merchant in Wandsworth London in 1881, and became an hotel clerk after he arrived in Victoria. William's wife Frances ROBSON, the daughter of James ROBSON and Eliza STIGANT (both of Brompton Kent), was born in Chatham Kent England, but married William S BOORMAN in Wandsworth in 1865.
William's parents were Thomas BOORMAN (1810 - 1894) and Mary Ann GREEN (abt 1816 - 1862). Thomas was a coach builder and wheelwright who was born in Headcorn Kent, moved as a child to Wandsworth, and died in Wandsworth Surrey (now London). His BOORMAN line has strong roots in various towns in Kent and Surrey, including Wandsworth and Camberwell Surrey, Staplehurst Kent, Biddenden Kent, Headcorn Kent, Hawkhurst and Cranbrook Kent.
So far this direct male BOORMAN line has been tentatively traced back to William and Sarah BOORMAN who lived and died in Kent England in the 1600s. There is still some doubt that William and Sarah were the parents of Thomas BOORMAN who married an Elizabeth HAYWARD whose mother was Margaret BOORMAN. That Boorman branch has been pushed back even further. However, haven't yet been able to trace Terry's direct male line and Margaret BOORMAN's line back to a common ancestor, although I think it fairly likely that Thomas and Elizabeth were related as well as husband and wife.
