This page is dedicated to the ancestors of Claudia's maternal Uncle Charles Bruce CLARK who married her mother's sister Harriet Compton ANDREW. Normally there would not be a blood relationship with such an uncle, but in this case there is an interconnection. Charlie is both Claudia's maternal Uncle AND her maternal 4th Cousin 2 generations removed (4C2R).

Uncle Charlie was interested in his family history and shared family photos and stories with us. His mother Bertha (called Bird by her family) was also knowledgeable about her heritage. Harriet (Charlie's wife and Claudia's aunt) once wrote: "When Chas took me home to meet his parents, his mother Bertha (Bird) Lillian MacDonald Clark greeted me with ‘You’re Cheesy Richardson’s granddaughter, and you and Charlie are related through the Boundys.’"

It wasn't until several years later that I figured out their exact connection. Bird was right about the BOUNDY connection. But her reference to Harriet's maternal RICHARDSON grandfather turned out to be a bit misleading.
Harriet's direct connection to her husband starts with her ANDREW father and follows the surname path of ANDREW > GRIGG > CORNISH.
However, both of Harriet's grandfathers - "Cheesy" Sydney RICHARDSON and William ANDREW - are interconnected by marriage through their COMPTON wives who are 1st cousins. Such a tangled web, for sure (more details of this on the COMPTON page).

The story of Charlie and Harriet's epic drive across Canada in 1953, when they moved from Prince Edward Island on the east coast to southern Vancouver Island on the west cost, is recounted in the blog article: Clark Family Road Trip - July 1953.

Charlie died at the age of 94 early in 2015, and his obituary is also posted on this site as "Rest in Peace, Uncle Charlie Clark".
