MILITARY PHOTOS from Fred MAY's ALBUMS

My maternal great uncle Major Frederick Farrer MAY (also spelled Frederic Farrar MAY) was a Canadian who served in the Great War (WWI) with the 26th New Brunswick Battalion CEF.   Born 18 Oct 1883 in Charlottetown PEI, Fred attended military school at a young age, and had 17 years of previous military experience with the Charlottetown Engineers (5 years), the 4th C A (2 years), and the 62nd Regiment (10 years). He enlisted in St John New Brunswick on 2 Nov 1914 with the rank of Captain.  He was seriously wounded on 1 Nov 2015 after only about one and a half months on the front lines near Ypres Belgium.  Upon recovery, he continued to serve on the home front as Deputy Chief Recruiting Officer for New Brunswick. 

Fred had his own camera by at least 1918 and, in true military fashion, organized and preserved his photos in albums, many with neatly-scribed captions (especially those involving his military career).  He included other official photos as well.

There are still more photos to scan, and it is my goal to share his military photos on this page as they become available.
