PACKHAM (PECKHAM) and STEVENS Genealogy
This branch is connected to Claudia's RICHARDSON maternal line.
William PACKHAM (1763-1841) and Mary STEVENS (1772-1827) were Claudia's 4-time-great grandparents who married after banns on 2 Dec 1792 in Appledore, Kent, England not far from East Sussex. They had 11 children, all but 2 of them girls, and all baptised in Appledore Kent between 1792 and 1809: Mary 1792, Elizabeth 1794, Sarah 1795, Rebecca 1797, Ann 1799, Sophia 1801, William 1803, Charlotte 1803/1805, Margaret and Richard 1807 and Harriet 1809. Some of the dates are uncertain. It was their daughter Ann PACKHAM who married Henry Proctor RICHARDSON I.
There was a burial for a William PACKHAM on 7 Mar 1841 in Appledore Kent, age 78 (born about 1763). An added note says that William was "many years clerk of this parish".

PACKHAM
William's parents are still a mystery. There was a possible christening for William in 1763 in Tunbridge Kent, also one in Cranbrook Kent in 1767, and another even farther away in Cuckfield Sussex in 1771. His name is not uncommon and none of the possible baptism records seen totally appropriate.
We have been unable to trace this PACKHAM line back any further.
STEVENS
From burial records we learned that Mary PACKHAM (nee STEVENS) was buried 30 Oct 1827 in Appledore Kent, age 55. That makes her birth date about 1772, but so far we can't locate any birth or baptism records with certainty. Her parents or ancestors also remain a mystery.
We have been unable to trace this STEVENS line back any further.
